June 2011 Meeting Recap
Greetings all!
Thanks to all that were able to make it out. Just a quick recap for those who could not:
1) Edge of Seven : Solukhumbu Development Project
AFH:DFW is collaborating on a fundraising effort in September to support several projects in Nepal, including several water and sanitation upgrades, as well as the addition and new construction of several schools. What we need from our members:
- Suggestions where to host the event? (Preferably in Irving where a large Nepal community resides)
- Possible donation sources (drinks, food, art, music during the event)
- Funding sources (cash donation for the project itself)
- Volunteers to provide research and general event help

2)"Our Calling"
AFH:DFW is waiting to hear back regarding design services needed. It does not appear that we will have a large role architecturally, however the client would like to have signage somewhere on the building. Know any fantastic mural/graffiti artists???? Contact marianne_n@afhdfw.org
3)Bus Shelter / Bike Racks / Micro Grants
AFH national is giving out $2500 micro grants per month to local chapters for projects. We are investigating the possiblity of using the grant to organize a bus shelter design competition. Contact jared_w@afhdfw.org
If the bus is not your fortay, the grant may also be used to support several bike racks designs...possibly at the new Katy Trail Ice House!?!? Just a thought we had. Contact stephen@afhdfw.org
4) Hearts and Hammers
We need volunteers!!! But we will hound you guys more starting in the beginning of August. Rest assured!
5) Fundraising Efforts
Have an idea? Well let's get that mind a thinking so we can get one of those micro grants!!?? Also, thank you to Roneesh for setting up the Rahr charity event in November. We will provide more info as the date nears.
6) Parking Day...Dallas?
Happening in September, wouldn't it be great to have AFH:DFW represent?? If you would like to help organize, please, please contact James@5Gstudio.com
7) Canstruction
If you are interested in taking the lead, please let cole_l@afhdfw.org know. Otherwise, we might be taking a year off!
